Now for something completely different...

I have managed to break away from the Christmas preparations and have made a few bits and pieces for gifts. First of all I have made a clock for my eldest step-daughter. I hope she likes it. And secondly I have made a necklace for my mum. These are both "new" techniques and crafts for me, but I am really pleased with the results.

Gift Tags

I thought that I would share these gift tags with you. I have made them using a technique that I saw on Tim Holtz's blog. I stamped on to black card and then embossed the text using clear embossing powder. I then painted over the card using gold/silver acrylic paints. Before the paint had properly dried I wiped it off the text using a paper towel allowing the black to show through from underneath. I then added the holly leaves and berries (metalic red brads). Finally I punched a hole and added an eyelet.

I have just discovered the Penny Black Saturday Challenge. This is my card using last weeks
sketch.

Wednesday 10 December 2008

I have been really busy with job applications and interviews recently. This is why I haven't posted on here for ages.

I have finally found time to take part in the Papertake Weekly Challenge. Here is the sketch:

Crafts 4 U

These ATCs are for the Crafts 4 U Christmas Colours Swap.

Rememberance Day

This is a set of 5 ATCs that I have made for a fortnightly swap at my local Craft Central. The theme was "Rememberance Day". I have combined pictures of poppy fields with a soldier silhouette and the words "If I should die, think only this of me: That there's some corner of a foreign field That is forever England."

Crafts 4 U

Here are two more of my ATCs for the Crafts 4 U Cream colour
swap.

Simply Sparkling

Here is my entry for this weeks Papertake Weekly Challenge, entitled "Simply Sparkling".
I have used a Poinsettia stamp that I have had for ages, heat embossed in gold. I then used a clear/white Sakura pen to colour in the leaves, adding red and green glitter before the ink dried. Once the ink had dried I covered it with 3d gloss to add dimension. Finally I mounted onto red and silver as shown.

I have been quite busy today, stepping out of my comfort zone a little bit. I have created this ATC for the Crafts 4 U monthly lottery where the theme was "Distressed". I have tried using a few of the techniques shown on Tim Holtz's November Technique.

I have also made this tag using the same techniques. I am happier with the effect of the inks on the card than on the stampboard used for the ATC.

Papertake Weekly Challenge

I have just made this ATC for the Crafts 4

U cream colour swap, following a sketch from the Papertake Weekly Challenge blog. I have also decided to enter it into the weekly challenge.

Thursday 30 October 2008

I have had a busy day making 2nd birthday cards for Maddie's friends, all of whom have their birthdays in the next two weeks. I have made seven in this style, but with blue backing for the boys.

I have also completed 6 ATCs for this weekends swap at my local Craft Central. The theme was Bonfire Night. I created these by printing images on to seperate sheets of acetate and then attaching them to the card with eyelets. This proved to be quite a diificult task as I think my eyelet setter has seen the end of it's useful life. So much so, I went to the local craft shop and treated myself to a crop-a-dile.

Where has the time gone?

My goodness. I can't believe that I haven't posted on here for so long. Where has the time gone? Well, I guess what with work, looking after Maddie and being poorly for the last two weeks it is no wonder that time has moved on so quickly.

Anyway, I have been busy with making a few Christmas cards, and then on Monday my friend Dawn had her new baby. A little boy whose name I don't know yet. I have made this new baby card. I used a decoupage image and then mounted it on blue mirri card and pale blue glittery card. I hope they like it.

Today's plan involves a few ATCs for my fortnightly swap on Saturday, a few Christmas cards and some 2nd birthday cards for Maddie's friends.

Friday 10 October 2008

I am finally back online after being locked out of my blog for the last few days. I have been quite busy making a few Christmas cards, mini gift bags and pocket calendars in the meantime.
